“It’s a fantastic line-up of accomplished artists,” says Bruce Gauthier, designer of Cheboygan’s newest entree to the local music scene. “Chamber music is one musical genre that we’ve been missing in Cheboygan, and I’m convinced many people will be drawn to it,” Gauthier continued.

Set for the summer months of 2020, Chamberfest Cheboygan will present five programs at the Cheboygan Opera House. The programs will feature several new works by living composers, and also celebrate  Beethoven’s 250th birthday.

The series kicks off with the Western Brass Quintet, one of the oldest and most distinguished chamber music ensembles in the U.S. today. Next up is the Neave Piano Trio, which champions new works by living composers. Ariel String Quartet has earned critical praise worldwide over a span of nearly two decades. The True North String Quartet is a group from Ann Arbor area, celebrating their 11th year bringing a chamber music series to Michigan’s U.P. Finally, the Cheng2 Duo (Cheng Squared Duo) features a brother-sister team of violin and piano, having been recognized as one of Canada’s “30 hot classical musicians under 30” by CBC Music. Tickets are available now at the Opera House box office, or online at theoperahouse.org.

Chamberfest Cheboygan, championed by classical music lover Gauthier, is in partnership with the Cheboygan Area Arts Council.  Sponsorships and support are being sought to ensure success of the new project. Contributions  are welcome in any amount, with “Series Friend” beginning at $50. To sponsor an individual concert, the contribution is $1,000. For additional information, call 231-627-5841.
